Maze
Date: High School Junior, 2008
Time: Several hours
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
Description: A perspective pencil drawing of a three-dimensional looking maze (although it is just a normal two dimensional maze). It is at an angle if viewed from several feet above the ground, but is not a top-down view. It has depth to the walls. Pencil shading, black, white, gray, dark.
Artist’s Comments: I felt it would be fun to create a maze, and then imagined how much more amazing it would look in three-dimensions. So I drew out a maze on paper, and then scaled it and drew it onto another paper so that it had more perspective to it.
I’ve gotten many comments on how realistic this looks. Many people seem to like this picture even though it was fairly simple to make. There are only four shades of gray including black and white.
